Have your say on the future of the Alumina Industry
ATR 4.0 will help guide research and development in the Alumina Industry to 2050 and beyond. It will be a live, web-based forum for ideas that will bring together researchers and industry practitioners in ways never before possible. It will be kick-started by a broad-based Roadmap Workshop at Alumina 2018.
The Alumina Technology Roadmap is an initiative of the Alumina Technical Panel, sponsored by the International Aluminium Association (IAI) through it’s subcommittee, the Bauxite-Alumina Committee (BAC).
The first Alumina Technology Roadmap provided the framework for focused research in the areas most critical to the industry. Created in 2001 and updated in 2006 and 2010, the Roadmap was a great success. It stimulated highly productive research programs on thickening, air emissions and residue management. The economic downturn in the latter part of the decade reduced public and private support for research. Key bauxite residue projects continued, but others were not.
As we approach the 20-year horizon set in 2001, much has been achieved but there is still much to be done. An ongoing research program, responsive to changing stakeholder expectations and able to leverage emerging technology developments, is essential for our long-term industry aspirations.
It is time to renew and revitalize the Roadmap and deliver it on the web as a living guide to the technology direction of the Alumina Industry.
ATR 4.0 will come to life at the Roadmap Workshop which will be held as part of this Alumina 2018 Conference.
It will focus on these 5 Key Themes:
- Energy of the Future– decarbonizing our industry
- Residue – or not?
- Process Science & Technology
- Industry 4.0 – the Digital Revolution
- Market risks & responses
We invite you to register your interest in attending the Workshop in Gladstone via the Conference expression of interest form.
